The brown burlap that covered its whole body made it nearly invisible on the moss-grown bark. Here, well protected from curious glances, it pondered the day again.

There was still so much to do, so much to prepare! Besides, spending hours among plants for the second time within a day sounded more like Poison Ivy's thing.
Reluctantly it closed its eyes. The straw man doubted it was going to be a pleasant night, for it already knew who would be expecting it.

------------

I know, I know, this scene is from the end of the chapter, but I just couldn't resist drawing Jon this way. Doesn't he look peaceful? X3
Here's the chapter to this illustration: link

The second illustration I started during the summer holidays and finished... yesterday :dummy:
It was done with two black ball pens and a fineliner for the background and it has the size of half a normal sheet of paper.

The detail in the tree foliage and branches blows me away, but I have to say the entire composition is done so immaculately that it really brings the piece to life. The viewer's eye wanders from Crane's sleeping figure to the moonlit bay most effectively; and the moment I spotted the bat was the moment a big silly grin came to my face. That is such an adorable and satisfactory detail.

Thanks a lot for your kind words :D Even though I created this drawing almost two years ago, I can still say that I like it.
A little bat here and there makes every drawing so much cuter, doesn't it? Haha, them being my favourite animals, I like to include them in night scenes.

You're most welcome! :aww: I think it's a brilliant drawing, doesn't matter when you made it, it will always have the same compositional and conceptual value embedded into it.
Yes, bats give any drawing where they can possibly be included that little bit of an extra something. :D

I love the shading and the detail. It looks like one of the old comic illustrations. Though something looks off about the owl in the corner there...

Thanks a lot, also for the fave! :aww:
Yeah, I know what you mean. I didn't use a reference even though I didn't really know how an owl exactly looks.

Without a reference? Hol-ee blue cow Batman! It looks pretty good despite the lack of ref. :meow:

Awww, look at the cute li'l bat on that small branch right there next to the moon. It looks so adorable <3 *Which is so weird to point out, given what had happened in this chapter o3o*
